HOW MINDFUL LIVING BEGAN . . .
In 2017, a close family member of our founder and CEO, Sasha Dismuke, was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Sasha instantly used her skills of research, investigation, analysis, and application to determine: (1) how chronic illnesses are developed; (2) what lifestyle habits promote these illnesses; and (3) how to rectify the damage and bring our lives back into balance. During this time, Sasha found that it takes our bodies, on average, ten years to develop chronic illnesses. This means small habits can either "make or break" our health over time. Sasha then narrowed her research and focused on nutrition by investigating where our food is grown and how it is sourced, packaged, and served. The results were negatively astonishing!
Using this research, Sasha developed a lifestyle and nutritional plan for her new “client” and became their impromptu health coach. This client lost over 30 pounds within the first month, comfortably walked the day after their surgery, and avoided post-operation chemical treatments altogether. This client has continued the health and nutrition plan that Sasha created and has not reported any re-occurrences or other illnesses for over five years now! This is not only the power of God but also the power of a balanced lifestyle - not just nutrition.
Then, Sasha decided to change not just what was on her plate but also how she was living her daily life - her physical activity, relationships, and career path. Sasha took it a step further and began to challenge and support other family members, friends, co-workers, and colleagues who have also reported significant changes in their health journey. Sasha initially did this as a labor of love and because of her innate passion for people. However, it was not until January 2022 that she finally recognized wellness as her actual calling! Thus, Mindful Living was born!
WHAT WE TEACH . . .
Since health is a vehicle and not a destination, Sasha has taken time over the past five years to balance what we refer to as "primary food," which is shown in the diagram above. Bringing attention to "primary food" has led to success in what we refer to as "secondary food" (what's actually on our plate)! Sasha now actively practices and teaches that fundamentally, what happens in our lives will always dictate what we choose to put on our plates, which determines our overall health trajectory. It is a vicious cycle that we can control, one step at a time! This is the essence of Mindful Living. Join us!
